ZEA’s Aurora, YUMPU Article 2024 November

Aurora Roz ABARCA

I am the Legal and Commercial Director of ZEA SPÍRITU, a leading company in spirits and a pioneer in the production of vodka with blue corn.

I am a lawyer, businesswoman, promoter of social projects and development of scientific research. I studied a degree in Law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho de Veracruz and specialized in international trade and business. I have gained key experiences these past twelve years as general manager in different companies (construction, environmental remediation and property management services) where I learned the importance of offering quality, differentiation and added value, regardless of the industry.

What motivated you to become a leader in your industry?

For me, this project is the perfect combination of my passion for innovation and my love for Mexican history, traditions and culture. Being in charge of the legal and commercial direction allows me to have contact and make decisions in the supply chain, from the producers of our raw materials to the end customer, ensuring that each of our processes goes beyond just good practices and compliance with standards. We seek to be a business partner in fair prices, a guarantee of excellence in quality and sustainability of our processes. “ZEA SPIRITU” blue corn vodka is more than just a spirit, it represents the collaboration between artisans, designers, scientists and Mexican families dedicated to the field and the opportunity to improve their living conditions.

What have been the biggest challenges you have faced in your professional career?

I would say that the main challenges that ZEA Spirit faces is to remain firm in our vision and mission of maintaining the balance of sustainable practices in obtaining and selecting the highest quality com and fair prices; the production of blue com represents less than 1% of the corn production at a national level and we want to care for and respect the Mexican countryside, which has led us to touch the doors of the field workers. to seek fair agreements so that they continue to plant one of our most precious resources “blue corn”. Overcoming these challenges involves approaching the producers inviting them to be more than our suppliers, our partners, reviewing the location of the land, the climate, the participation of our team of scientists, who, concerned about the existence of transgenic corn, pesticides, water contamination, make sure that the corn we are using has been obtained under the standards of organic products, and then integrating science to create a product that captivates both experts and consumers.

What are your short-term goals for your company or equipment?

Expand our presence in the national and international market Maintaining quality and innovation in our Vodka and in future launches of other spirits.  Continue investing in scientific research and development in our laboratory and distillery.
Create unique and memorable experiences for consumers through events and tastings at ZEA Spiritu.

How do you ensure that you maintain an environment of innovation and growth in your team?

To maintain an environment of innovation and growth, it is essential to firstly organize and plan our work team; secondly, establish metrics to be able to visualize and compare the results obtained vs. the expected results; and finally, the constant preparation and learning of all of us who make up ZEA Spiritu

What is the funniest anecdote you have had at a meeting or work event?

We have organized tastings at ZEA SPIRITU inviting experts in the world of Spirits recognized nationally and internationally, some already know our Blue Corn Vodka and others are trying it for the first time, in one of these tastings a group
urexpected favar, shell and texture of our product gave us “this is undoubtedly a new chapter in the history of vodka and you are definitely making history” it was a different moment poured and moving.
